Tracy, ARPH #9656, is a petite nine year old dark blue merle with white and tan, lovely freckles and beautiful blue eyes. Having spent her life living in a barn and having puppies, Tracy's career changed direction earlier this year... to retirement! She luckily had an angel watching over her as she was about to be brought out to the bush to be shot as she could no longer have any more puppies. Tracy loves living indoors now, close to her people!
Tracy is a sweetie with typical Aussie reserve, wanting to check out new people for herself rather than be approached for a pat. After a few minutes, though, she will approach on her own or when invited, enjoying a pet or a scritch. She bonds quickly to her caretaker and follows her foster mom wherever she goes in the house. She has been introduced to many new places, people and situations, taking each one cautiously and drawing confidence from her foster mom. Tracy spent her entire life in a farm setting. City noises and activity make her a little nervous due to lack of exposure to it. Lawnmowers and garden tractors don't bother her at all. A quieter home is what we are hoping to find for Tracy. She is not a high energy Aussie but she really loves her hikes on the farm where she's living now.
Tracy is housetrained and settles nicely when indoors. Although she has learned to enjoy snuggling on the furniture with her foster family she will usually wait to be invited before jumping up on the chair or bed. She gets along fairly well with her rambunctious foster brothers but would be just as happy being an only dog. As long as she can spend time with her people, Tracy is a happy girl.
Tracy has recently decided that tennis balls are fun! She loves to chase them, toss them about and will return it to you when called. Her recall is excellent both indoors and out. She is crate trained but can be left loose in the house without any problems.
The only bad habit of Tracy's is her interest in the foster home's cat and guinea pigs. The piggies are safely in cages but the kitty has been the object of a chase or two... or three. Therefore a home without cats would be best.
Tracy would love to find a family who would take her for hikes, snuggle and brush her regularly, as well as patiently encourage her confidence in new situations. Her age is just a number and she has a lot of love to share.
PS.. she gives the most wonderful hugs. :) If you are ARPH approved and would like to know more about Tracy, please contact Nicole at aussierescue@gmail.com |
