Hi! My name is Libby, and I am a very sweet girl. I am in the New Leash on Life foster program and am looking for my forever home. Because I am a little older, I would prefer a home with children over 12 years old. If you have an older dog like me I would like to meet him/her to see if we can be friends. I am very loving and smart and haven't had one accident in my foster home. If I sound like the perfect fur friend for you please call Sheryl T @ 716-867-6504.

Leto has been introduced to several other dogs and he likes the more laid back females the best! He does not like cats so he cannot go to a home with cats or small animals.
Leto has shown some possession with toys that have been placed in his room. Leto holds onto his toys and refuses to leave his room. Leto has never redirected his possession issues towards a person, but he holds onto the toy and growls. He can be coaxed out with treats and will give up his toy for yummy food. Please research toy possession and aggression in dogs to be totally sure that you would be equipped to deal with this.
Due to the issues with toys, the staff at the OSPCA are being cautious in adopting Leto into a family with small children.

I am trained very well. I'm not allowed to beg at the dinner table. I'm usually told to lay by the back door . If you just tell me to go to my bed I will go. I like treats when I come in from outside. If you ask me anything, I pretty much understand your language. For example if you say, "what are you doing?" and I'm doing something I'm not supposed to I will guarantee that I will stop.
My favorite song is from the spice girls, "Who's that Girl". My owner sings it to me and it makes me excited.
I don't like baths but I have no problems sitting while I get bathed or my nails trimmed or my hair cut. I like to get my "Necklace" on after I'm dried. I definitely do not like storms nor do I like the rain and you will know if the storm is coming because I will shiver and cower before it happens. I don't like loud bangs or crashes like firecrackers, it always makes me hide. I much prefer to stay in the house opposed to being outside. I have allergies and usually the end of May all it takes is one allergy shot and I don't really have problems for the whole season. If I don't get my shot I get very itchy watery eyes and tend to scratch my hair off my body. This can be very uncomfortable but it is easily avoided by getting me an allergy shot once a year.
I like to talk during movies [I'm very sociable and verbal] and I definitely like popcorn. I definitely like to go on walks but I'm a puller. I do not like car rides although I've been on many camping trips. They usually give me a Gravol to settle my stomach before I leave and don't feed me until I get to my destination. I've never had any medical problems besides my allergies.
I am about seven years old and I was always taken good care of and my owner will be sad to let me go but due to financial problems and not being able to spend much time with me, my owner knows that I will be better off with someone that can give me what I need. Right now I need exercise, and lots of love.
If you think you might like an older, settled girl who very much will dote on you and love you very much, please contact Nicole at: aussierescue@gmail.com. I am located in Windsor, ON. |

I loved them, the others, the ones who left me, But I wasn't good enough for they didn't want me. Will you add to my baggage? Will you help me unpack? Or will you just look at my things and take me right back?
Do you have the time to help me unpack? To put away my baggage, To never repack? I pray that you do-I'm so tired you see, But I do come with baggage |
The Meaning Of Rescue
Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed, All nicely tucked in my warm new bed, I'd like to open my baggage lest I forget, There is so much to carry So much to regret.
Hmm yes, there it is, right on top; Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss, And there by my leash hides Fear and Shame. As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain. |
Will you still want me?

Hello my name is Secata (kind of like a bug).
I'm a very good dog and very loyal. I will protect your family if someone that I don't know comes in the house. I will sit by their side and make sure that they're not doing anything they're not supposed to [I usually keep a very close eye on them]. I'd tend to let you know if people are coming to the door and I usually bark at them but if the person is sitting down at my level, I will have no problem meeting them.
I like playing with older children but I am not too fussy on small children who pull my fur so I want a home without them. My sister, who is an older girl, and I always play this game where I steal her toys and run out of her room. I really like that game. I like stealing socks if they're lying on the floor, and running through the house with them. I don't chew them up [or anything in the house]. I like playing with plastic pop bottles outside and my favorite thing is Christmas wrapping paper tubing. My owner taps me on the bum with it or talks into it and I get very excited but I jump at it so you must be careful. I'm not much of a tugger, as I tend to get too close to hands, I just get too excited. I like to play a game where I hop up on the bed and if you don't catch me right away I will do it again. I will play over and over again but I'm definitely not allowed on the furniture [and do not go on the furniture]. |

Hi there! This is Leto. He is a 5.5 year old red merle Australian Shepherd. Leto came to the OSPCA because his owner was moving and could not take him. Leto can be a little bit shy but warms up quickly.
Leto's new home should have extensive knowledge of the Aussie breed as he is a working dog and loves to have something to do. Leto loves to get out and run. He is a high energy dog and needs a family that can match his energy level. Also, Leto has proven to be a bit of an escape artist!! He can climb chain link fences, so here at the shelter he has to go in a roofed pen. He will still need to be supervised in a fenced yard whether it is chain or wood fencing. |
Cooper is a 3 year old neutered male Australian Shepherd. He is tri-coloured and long haired, and so will require some grooming. He seems ok with cats, but would prefer to be the only dog in his new home. He is a little overweight, and needs lots of exercise.
